Our first South Australian project, Nightingale Bowden is in one of Adelaide’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Situated on a unique island site, the building overlooks the street to the south and accesses sunlight from the north. Design elements like a sawtooth profile peeking out above the roofline, and copper motifs across the façade, subtly acknowledge Bowden’s industrial past. Breathe created a visual separation between the two halves of the building by incorporating colour variations into the fluted profile. One half of the facade is natural grey and the other a subtle green.

We are proud to acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which Nightingale Bowden stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Meet a resident

I really like the idea that a building like this will bring together a potentially quite diverse group of people who share similar ideas on sustainability, community, access etc.
