55–63 Nicholson Street
Brunswick East, Melbourne
ClarkeHopkinsClarke x Breathe Architecture
Lucent Capital and ClarkeHopkinsClarke, in collaboration with Breathe Architecture as Interior Designer, are building a new Nightingale development on a 1670 metre-square site at the corner of Nicholson and Miller Streets in Brunswick East. The site is located approximately 4km north of Melbourne’s CBD, in front of stop 23 on the 96 tram line, next to the Nicholson Street stop on bus route 596, and just a short ride from the Merri Creek Trail. It's a short walk from the best of the north: only 500m to the Nicholson Street shopping hub, which has a bakery, fishmonger, deli, cafes and a bookshop, and just 1.5km from Edinburgh Gardens.
The team is moving away from the traditional approach to developing a multi-residential housing building with this site, using instead the Nightingale model with its values of financial, social and environmental sustainability. The building will be constructed from recycled bricks, with the vertical and rooftop gardens for which Nightingale has become known.
